Hey All,

I know this is short notice, but, it is a weeklong event with flexible start and return times. We will be targeting the Springfield/Alexandria area with a couple of walk packets in Vienna and Falls Church. They will be handed out on a first come first-served basis---like ATC used to work. I am told that we will be targeting Loudoun and Prince William counties in the future.

Thanks to Dan Redding from ZDC for walking with us on the 7th and to those who tried, but, were caught with unexpected obligations. I also appreciate your efforts to spread the word and recruit volunteers. We will have many opportunities for them through the election.

Also, I was lucky enough to attend the Obama rally on the 5th. I got a couple of VIP passes at the last minute that I was able to share with our sister Jadyne and her son from PCT. Myself and about 30 others  participated in a protest picket at Tyson’s Center just prior to McCain’s fundraiser there on the 9th.  We will likely be picketing the Hilton at DCA on July 2nd to support the workers there…more info on that next week.

Feel free to call me for more info on these events or any other questions you think I could help with.

In Solidarity,
Steve Mendenhall

AOV CREDENTIALING AND CONTROL TOWER OPERATOR CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
Many of you have started to receive the FAA’s new “Credentials” card in your mailbox.  Unfortunately, it comes in an envelope attached to a piece of paper with just your name on it and no explanation as to what it is.

Below is a link to a briefing page put out by NATCA explaining the Credentials MOU.  I have also placed a copy of it, as well as a full copy of Order 8000.90 in a binder on the table in the NATCA office for your perusal.

The cards being distributed had an August 2007 date on it.  I am trying to determine if this date means anything and if we should request replacement cards with the proper date on them.  I will let you know what I find out.
