Welcome to the National Air Traffic Controller’s Association Potomac TRACON Local website. Hopefully, this site will be a primary source of information for our members on local and national issues of interest. We also welcome guests who want to learn more about our facility or some of the issues facing our Local.
The Potomac Consolidated Terminal Radar Approach Control or “TRACON” was commissioned in December 2002. This project involved consolidating five approach control facilities into a single consolidated facility. It is one of the FAA’s most modern Air Traffic Control facilities ever constructed.
Potomac’s air traffic controllers provide air traffic control services to aircraft operating in the Washington D.C. Metro Area. This airspace is some of the most complex and busiest in the World. The facility is located at Vint Hill Farms Station, Virginia, approximately 38 miles west of Washington D.C. According to the FAA’s Administrator’s fact book, it is the third busiest terminal approach control in the United States.
The NATCA membership is comprised of air traffic controllers, traffic management specialists, and support staff specialists. They provide excellent air traffic control services to the Washington D.C. metro airports, including; IAD, BWI, DCA, RIC, ADW, and CHO. We hope you enjoy flying with us!
Please feel free to contact any one of our Officers or Representatives to find out more about the Potomac TRACON or the National Air Traffic Controllers Association.
